Also known as: Porteqaliha Castle, Qaleye Porteqaliha, Ghaleye Porteghaliha

During 15th and 16th centuries, while Portuguese governed the waters of Persian Gulf, they started to build some castles in Qeshm, Hormoz, Chabahar, etc. Here is another castle of Portuguese which is located in Qeshm Island, with an irregular quadrilateral plan holding four watchtowers on the four corners. Totally it is more than 2000 square meters, while the materials are local including limestone and gypsum attached with mortar. It is equipped with catapults which were the most powerfull weapons of that time! In fact it was a supplier castle for other Portuguese castle located in Hormuz Island. There is an underground tunnel connecting the castle to Qeshm city. Some experts believe the tunnel ended at Kharbas Cave in south of Qeshm Island.
